Saudi Woman Arrested for Flouting Womens Driving Ban
Manal al-Sherif, a woman in Saudi Arabia, brave enough to flout the existing driving ban on women drivers there, has apparently been arrested. Although it is not officially 'illegal' for women to drive in Saudi Arabia, it is made impossible by the inability of women to obtain a license to drive.Manal al-Sherif filmed herself driving in the presence of some women friends and posted this on the internet-she has since been remanded in custody for 'violating public order'.
